Ms. Christina Romero
December Teacher of the Month
Tucumcari Elementary School

Biography:

My name is Christina Romero, I am from Garita, NM where my family owns and operates a cattle ranch. I am from a large family, I have 4 sisters, and 1 little brother. Our parents instilled in us to always be a leader not a follower and I still feel that it is important to live that way. I attended school in Tucumcari and graduated from Tucumcari High School in 2004. After High School I attended the University of New Mexico in pursuit of a degree in Elementary Education. I student taught in Albuquerque for two semesters until I decided to move home and finish my last semester of Student Teaching at Tucumcari Elementary. Mrs. O'Rear was my mentor teacher and taught me very many life lessons that will help me in my teaching career.

I graduated from UNM in December 2008 and accepted a job at the Elementary School as an aide for the second half of the 2008-2009 school year. In August 2009 I started my first year teaching and I am in a third grade class. I have 19 students and they have kept me very busy, I enjoy everyday getting to work with them and teach them something new.
